La Belle Yacht Club hosted the 2010 Red White and Blue Chip Regatta from August 15 to 17. Forty sailors competed in the "by invitation only" event. Host lake favorite Trevor Trepton won a tie breaker over Augie Dale (winner of the Beulah Optimist Regatta) to take the title of Blue Chip Champion. Trevor won three races while Augie won two of the six completed races. Beulah's Brooke Komas finished fifth overall. For results, click here .

For the second consecutive year, an LBSS Opti student has won the ILYA No Tears Regatta in the Junior. Annie Kate Schmidt sailed to a first, two seconds and a fifth to win the regatta by seven points over Kyle Navin of GLSS. The event was sailed in moderate winds on Pine Lake, host of the 20th Annual No Tears Regatta. Seventy sailors participated, many of them in their first regatta. The junior fleet consisted of age 8 or younger. Jacqueline Komas finished in ninth. Annie Berg also competed in the Junior Fleet.
In the senior fleet, Beulah's Hallie Mikacich finished in 4th place. Hallie sailed to four top five finishes out of the five races sailed. Great job!

Congratulations to Alec Bischoff and Jacqueline Komas for their strong performances during the 2010 Kaszube Cup. Hosted by South Shore Yacht Club in Milwaukee, these two LBSS students travelled to Lake Michigan for two days of Optimist competition. In the RWB Fleet, Alec finished in third place overall. Jacqueline also finished in third place, competing in the Green Fleet. Jacqueline's brother Jer competed in the Club 420 division where he finished 26th overall. Will and Alex Curtiss won the Optimist and Club 420 divisions, respectively. Eight races were completed during the event. For Optimist results, click here. Club 420 results may be located here.

Nevin Snow, son of former LBSS X student Mary Brigden, has won US SAILING’s Chubb U.S. Junior Sailing Singlehanded Championship. Nevin competed against 19 competitors from across the United States in Laser Full Rigs and takes home the Smythe Trophy. Each competitor qualified to compete in the Championship by placing either first or second in their respective District qualifier. Snow is a member of the San Diego Yacht Club, host of this year's Championships. Earlier this spring, Nevin and his high school classmates won the ISSA High School National Championship.
In the Bemis Trophy competition, Alex Curtiss and Kate Hall of Lake Forest tied for second place, but lost the tie breaker, settling for the bronze medal in the Club 420 class. Click here for results .

The Beulah X boaters travelled to Oshkosh on July 19 & 20 to compete in the Oshkosh X-treme Regatta. Forty eight (48) crews attended the two day event in which three races were completed on Day 1. Minnetonka demonstrated it's one of the ILYA's strongest X programs by placing all five of its entries in the top eleven places. Click here for results.
